"With the increasing militarization of space, there have been a number of efforts to find an international agreement to create controls on the use of space weaponry. But there's a problem: How do you create a meaningful framework for a treaty against space weapons if no one defines them the same way? Interesting that there's no mention that Russia and China have space forces and have hade for decades; Probably because russia's is broke and basically just runs spy sats, and China's People's Liberataion Army Special Support Service Space Systems Division is to damn long to remember. |

Hate to inform you but, anyone that has ANYTHING in orbit that can be controlled from the ground – has a space weapon. All you have to do is reposition a satellite in the way of another one and BOOM! Both are toast… |

Heinlein wrote that a tool--or a weapon--is a way of manipulating energy. Sufficient mass in orbit is a LOT of energy. With less mass, StarCruiser is perfectly right. Is it a weapon if it can take out or weather, communication and GPS satellites? If not, why not? |
