Hi Everyone,

Hope all are well. During the lockdown I have painted up three HOTT armies based around the Cthulhu Mythos. This has been a lot of fun as the sheer range of monsters and strange creatures make these armies rather exotic.

The Army of The Outer Gods

The figures come from a range of sources and are mostly RAFM, Grenadier, Reaper and EM4 as well as Prince August home casts for the cultists. I have also used my own Deep Ones. All are from 25mm ranges. They were a real blast to paint.

One of the things I needed to do was to figure out what element type the figures could be. With Cthulhu stories I figure you should be able to deploy Gods. I may do a human army as well, but I think they would have a hard time against these armies so I think I will battle them against each other for now. Hope you like them. Comments and crits welcome and there are a few more pictures over on the blog.

That would be a fun army to play…if you didn't lose your sanity first!

Awesome stuff. They look great.

Not a big reader of Cthulhu, yet I think you definitively will need a human army to battle those amazing armies! Demon-Hunter-Hero, civillians as horde (ha, this time it's the other way round), army-men as shooters, a priest, early tank as behemoth, police-dogs… endless possibilities grin

They will soon learn to fear humanity, the true monsters.

I agree with Olivero- easy to make a themed human force. Trained police/military slot right in as shooters. Angry villagers, local tribesmen, etc. rise up as hordes. Beasts are hunting dogs/K9s/etc. This was the rise of the warmachine- field guns for artillery, armored vehicles as behemoth. And the intrepid protagonist is surely a Hero.

I think for a human army, priests and angels would be a must.

Hi Everyone,

Thank you all for your appreciation. I will look around for suitable human forces, having to decide what era they could be from. I like the ideas you guys have.
