Very typical of everything 40K actually. The Paintwork and modelling is excellent….. the subject matter……well. Bad guys sauntering up to an entrenched gun line complete with heavy weapons and a armored, gun festooned combat walker……incoming casualties….exactly one! So now the dorks with the clubs presumably wipe out all the defenders because….ummm…..ah…….40K is a stupid game in a ridiculous setting…which leads us to….? This great, skillfully created diorama with good modelling and painting depicting a scene that is just plain stupid. Well, really nice model work, I mean it. Thanks for sharing it, hope my critique is not seen as a slight of the skills on display. |

So do you nitpick unrealistic historical paintings too? |

For all the effort, a WW1 scene would have looked less of a copy of a WW1 scene and been overly more popular as a result, as more people know of/have an interest in WW1. Or many other real wars for that matter, WW2, Vietnam, so on. A missed opportunity to show the 40k world(s). Obviously they were going for realism and giant skull or two headed eagle on every building just wasn't going to cut it. Re the casualties I think most people go down when shot even if it's only a flesh wound sometimes not hit at all only pinned. A nurgle monstrosity would not do anything like that. They would have to be literally cut into pieces to stop advancing. So, they would be being shot (missed modelling opportunity), have no doubt, these are imperial guard, not storm troopers. |

What nitpicking? Just offering my opinion on a well done but unconvincing diorama. Not everything that is not gushing praise has to be taken as needing defense. Since the original artist did not even post it themselves, then the critique is just me sharing my thoughts with Tango01….so easy there… :D And to answer your original question, honestly…yes. :)
