Please elaborate! Please share to help inspire?

How many 15mm armies do you have? Painted and unpainted?

Since I posted the question, I will give my answers

Currently, I am painting 2 fantasy 15mm armies, and a have a small start on a human army also. My current armies in the process of painting are Orcs with Goblin components and also a elf army. My painted orc army is currently about 130 orcs strong, with about 120 goblins joining the fray. the orcs have a strong spear welding infantry and archery units with several smaller units equipped with various other weapon. A small pack or worgs and worg riders make up the calvary, but more are needed to be painted. the goblin allies, have roughly 1/3 archers and the rest infantry. they have a contingent of calvary mounted on velociraptors. A couple hillgiants and ogres also tag along to do some battle.

The Elf army numbers about 170 strong and is currently combined more powerful than the orc army. It has a heavy bow component with a 2 strong infantry units numbering about 30+ figures each ( the one unit I should be completing during the next week. It also has a small unit a treants and dryads I recently finished which have not been battle proven. Elvish heavy calvary numbers about 35+ strong and includes a unit of 10 unicorns which really bosters its stregnth.. A few centaurs add to the mix.

Dont ask me about my unpainted miniatures for the 2 armies, I have to many to count.

I have several other unpainted 15mm armies, encluding egyptian, Human of various types, a small lizard army, undead and maybe a couple more. all waiting to be painted. My next 15mm army to be painted will likely be human of some sort.

Currently I am using the battlesystem rules (2nd ed) but am looking to give a few others a try, including Chainmail, Swords and Spells, and the BattleValor ruleset. I have several others which I will likely try later with them.

All my miniatures are mounted single based, on washers except the calvary which I have mounted on metal bases from Wargame Accessories, and washers will not not let my calvary be as close as I want. I am using magnetic movement trays of various sizes to meet my needs.

Most of my painted miniatures are either Demonworld miniatures or BattleValor, with a few Splintered light Miniatures mixed in. I have a lot of all 3 companies miniatures, which makes the bulk of my miniature collection, but have a smattering of unpainted miniatures from Alternative armies, Mirliton, Eureka, Cobblestone, (most of my painted goblins are actually 100 orcs from pendraken), Khurasan, Magister Militum. I also have a bunch of Museum miniatures for a couple of my human armies, which I like alot also.

Too many questions in one rush…

Currently painting Ming, for DBMM, so all are based on 4cm wide and 2-8cm deep bases, 2 to 6 per base. I collected almost all possible options, even made designed and printed my own gun and scratchbuilt fortifications for it. One base painted, around 150 based and in various states from just glued to basic paints.
Chose this for Chinese themed tournament on Baltrum (which was cancelled), and chose the Ming for variety: gun themed (more then 10 guns), infantry themed (handguns, warwagons and hordes) and cavalry themed (up to 34 bases) are options – and the chance to field a Great Wall (which will never happen in tournaments or competetive games, but for fun its nice to have the option).

In addition, there is no Ming line on the market, which I see as a challenge. Had to combine half a dozen similar lines and companies, and even printed some Ming helmets to convert peasants to gun crews.
Two ship types are still missing, and I need to convert some Manchu and create "Crouching Tiger" cannons for more diversity for the light guns. Otherwise all that is needed is to paint and actually play it…

Hmm, that's a lot to cover. All my stuff is based to the WRRG standard 40mm x various depths. We use home brew rules. Companies are; Essex, Copplestone, Black Raven, Demonworld, Splintered Light, Battle Valor, Eureka, Alternative Armies, Chariot, and others.

Armies are:
Dwarves – several hundred
Wood Elves – same
High Elves – same
Celts – historical with giants, were wolves, and trolls
Greeks – historical with centaurs, harpies, Amazons
Arabs – historical with genies and flying carpets
Undead – skeletons, ghosts, wraiths, vampires
Snow Queen – Conan type barbarians, privative humans, snow trolls, ice giants, yetis, and ogres

Still need to paint Egyptians

I'm not touching my 15mm stuff at the moment. There's not a lot of it. Martian Metals Traveller includes adventurers (painted in the 1980s) and a platoon of Vargr troops. The other stuff is medieval fantasy, and I don't remember where it came from. The total amount of 15mm stuff will fit in a cigar box.

rasuse – I will put my reply to how I like battlesystem on the battlesystem board, so not to change the subject.

After Looking at Frostie's List, mine looks quite amsll, but only been painting a year or 2.

Hope others keep posting what they have painted. what they have ect.

Nice to see links to peoples painted 15mm. When I paint, I always try to find examples of what people have painted of the same miniature, for ideas, but with 15mm its harder to find images of specific models.

Dark age Vikings, Normans, and Saxons for stand in. (Scattered a few wizard figs onto command stands) did the same with my Turks and Fatamids with a Indian war elephant or two for mumakil. Or so, trolls and goblins with a nazgul kitbashed for a leader. Plus some undead already done and I have all I need for Minas Turith and the pelannor fields.

I use Art de la Guerre rules, with some home brewed magic/supernatural abilities rules

Platybeladon01 Jun 2020 9:09 a.m. PST

Sword & Spear Fantasy – Orcs, Ectotherms (Lizardmen plus other reptilians), Endotherms (various beastmen) and Sons of the Desert (Meerkats plus a few Peter Pig fantasy Arabians). 1500+ points for each and all are based 40mm frontage with depths varying so I can use them for HOTT, speaking of which…
HOTT – Lizardmen, semi-historical Egyptians, Cthulhu cultists, and chaos beastmen.
Figure are predominately from Magister Militum, with RPE and Eureka filling in the rest. Tthe cultists are all Khurasan.
