Does anyone know how the five-squadron regiments operated?

Were they organised into three divisions (staff suadron division with two double-squadron divisions)

Or did they operate two-up with three-back?

Would they have engaged the staff squadron?

I was under the impression that the 5th squadron was a "depot squadron" and that the field strength of the heavy cavalry was 4 squadrons. Did this come later or was it the case in 1805 as well?
