I have just pre-ordered, via a link to their website from this site, the new Perrys Austrian Cavalry box set, described by them as
AUSTRIAN NAPOLEONIC CAVALRY: PERRY MINIATURES: POST FREE WORLD WIDE PRE-ORDER

They charged me £3.25 GBP postage.
I am waiting for their explanation.

Have you asked them?

Tomsurbiton22 May 2020 12:07 p.m. PST

Yes, e-mailed straight away, though I suspect the Bank Holiday weekend will delay an answer.

Sometimes their automated system adds postage and they manually remove it before charging you. Have you seen a final charge for your order on your bank account? I've also had Dave refund on shipping charges that were automatically billed and paid.

Thanks Jhancock, I know they're decent sorts and am confident they'll put this right.

Be careful. Only Caliver can see the full-stop between the words 'free' and 'world'.. That's the way they operate sometime. And they might tell you the order will be posted today although the item hasn't yet been released.

Seems a bit premature to be posting about this on TMP?

Wargamorium22 May 2020 2:58 p.m. PST

I have only ever had very good service from Caliver Books so I would be very surprised if they did not sort this out to your satisfaction.

Maybe you would keep us all informed of the outcome.

Regards

They have always given me free postage on figures, and for plastic figures because of this deal, they are the cheapest for outside of UK orders. Their book postage is a bit high on the other hand..

Tomsurbiton22 May 2020 9:03 p.m. PST

Basha, I thought if I posted straight away, other people might at least be aware of the issue before ordering.

Alaways great service from Caliver over many years and the couple of times there has been an issue they have fixed it straight away

Tomsurbiton23 May 2020 6:28 a.m. PST

And they fixed, or at least explained, this quickly and courteously – said it was the system that generated the postage charge, and they always took it off . Sorry I hadn't realised that beforehand.

I think the normal way to deal with an issue like this is to take it up with the company. Making it so visibly public for the sake of three quid is really rather extreme. Wait until after the bank holiday weekend and I'm sure you'll get it resolved almost instantly.

From the Caliver website:

IGNORE ANY ADDITIONAL POSTAGE CHARGES – WE WILL CHARGE MANUALLY ON COMPLETION OF YOUR ORDER
