Attaching the ramps to the lifter/lighter was a big issue. I had a number of conflicting requirements. The ramps had to be positionable up or down. They needed to be sturdy enough in the up position to allow them to be moved around on their movement stands without them falling off. I thought of a number of methods and discarded them. Hinges would have worked, but the ships wouldn't have fit into the boxes I wanted to store and transport them. Pegs seemed to be a hassle. Making a moving mechanical system was a lot of effort and seemed fragile. So I epoxied large rare earth bar magnets to the ship and steel plates to the ramps themselves. The steel plates are metal bases from Shogun Miniatures that I bent into right angles. It was a long route but I think this will work. Any comments?
