I'm looking for some 15mm ZIS trucks for, ironically enough, Flames of War (which I'm still playing locally using version 3 rules), but with the raised canvas cover on the bed. Battlefront's don't include one, Zeveda makes an easy to build and cheep one that does have the option, but it essentially requires scribing panel lines in the back (and apparently doesn't include a radiator grille ether). Which is beyond my skill level, and besides I need a dozen of them. A ZIS box truck would be even better, but I don't think a 15mm one exists. Scratch building is both beyond my skill level, and the number required rules that out anyway. Makes resin castings of a single model would solve the amount required problem, but is -far- beyond my skill level. It doesn't actually have to be exactly a ZIS truck, something that looks close enough would work as well. (For example, True North makes a Polish truck that's close enough I can't really tell the difference.) Anyone know of a suitable truck model? |

The Zvezda ones are excellent and include a fully detailed grille. The assembly is quick, and if you want to detail the woodwork you can stick a few slats on the sides (takes a few minutes) Here's my review of the trucks you could pick:
QRF do a workshop/radio backed Zis but it is a big old beast. Here's my slatted Zvezda (but I don't usually do this as it isn't necessary)
Butler Printed Model is only available sans tilt. Likewise Peter Pig's excellent resin Gaz. Full text of my review: P.B.Eye-Candy/Reviews Phil |

The Zvezda ones are easy to put together, cheap and include canvas tilts if you want them. The older moulds had a weird bonnet arrangement but the new ones are fine. Being plastic, they are also easy to convert. |

You can get a canvas backed Zis along with a couple of other variants from Syborg, link I got some with canvas tilts recently and they are excellent. |

I also notice that in the link I posted the vehicle with a tilt is a Zis 6, however if you go to the gallery section of the website they show a Zis 5 with tilt. anything in the gallery can also be printed on request. |
