"As stated earlier, the Dutch battalions had two flags, a colonel's flag (mostly with the coat of arms of the province on whose paylist the regiment was or a coat of arms connected with the House of Orange (eg for the three the Orange-Nassau regiments). The Swiss regiments were of course an exception as were the regiments of some German princes…"
