Has anyone here ever taken 2 sets of rules and mish/mashed them together?

I've been wondering if I could take I Ain't Been Shot Mum (minus its to-hit/penetration rules) and marry them to another set of rules whose to-hit/penetration rules are a little more meatier.

I play a lot of 6mm modern using WRG but their data doesn't cover much beyond the early 80s so I've been using Threat by Gary Mills for acquisition/firing/kill data which gets me into the early 2000s.

Seems to work ok since they have common roots as I understand it.

The first fleet action Age of Sail game I played was like this. I married the signalling rules (and basic C3 principles) from The Byng Touch to the move/shoot/morale mechanics of a simple Napoleonic Naval set. Of course, that was only the starting point, and after a few years the rules were mostly unrecognizable…

I have done this for other sets of rules and my only comment is, its not that easy. You will probably have to create your own set of rules and made the necessary modifications throughout the rules as you are actually changing rules. But it can be an interesting project.
