A Chinese army on an expedition to the far west fought against an enemy in "fish scale formation," as related in Slingshot issue 330. Some speculate this is a reference to the Roman tortoise formation, or perhaps Greek overlapping shields. What do you think? |

One of my favorite theories is that they were Romans who survived Carrhae and were pressed into service. 17 years after Carrhae is a long time but some of them would've been in fighting shape still. |

No. That's just racist, anti-Chinese propaganda. The Americans were the ones who fought the Romans in 36BC. |

The Chinese will 'somehow' find a map with lots of dashes on it that proves it is their land |

It's always fun to speculate creatively. Some of the best fiction has been written this way. Mind you, the next thing you know, they'll make a movie about this with Jackie Chan … and heck, who knows, someone like John Cusack. |
