So you're touting for Perry's big time, I get it
Yeah it's tough deciding whether to go W.Foundry or 'new' Perry's is the answer…

They keep teasing us with these but as yet no release date.

These have just been released. 3 boxes and you get a free metal cuirassier Colonel. The horses are look superb. This is the first set ever that I am looking forward to painting the horses more than the riders.

Whats with the 'different horse heads comment'?
Exactly who provides alternative horse heads? Apart from the Coreleones?

The different horse heads refers to the different bridle arrangements for Dragoons and Cheveaux Leger. That's the main thing that distinguished the 2 different types but very similar looking cavalry in the Austrian Army.

Just to add the bridle arrangements were not an exact science as some Cheve aux leger horses have been pictured with the Dragoon or heavier type cavalry bridle arrangement.I think I will end up mixing some within a unit just for a bit of interest ( or not as the case may be ).It is perhaps another example of the direction the hobby is going in as each new release brings together a new level of exactness and accuracy.

Just wondering if anyone has bought a box as yet ? I have been working on a box of these and very pleased with the build so far. I did find that a little work is required on the fleece at the rear as it looks like it disappeared between the joints of the 2 horse halves. As the head is also separate a little filling was required to hide the join. Very pleased with the poses and these look very good to paint. The paint guide is superb and fully comprehensive. You will not need a uniform book.

Thanks Mysteron – I agree the figures look superb as does the painting. Although good to know about the painting guide, must say I do very much enjoy looking at uniform books.

>> the different bridle arrangements for Dragoons and Cheveaux Leger.

Well thats completely understandable; given the frequent changes to regiment 'type' across a variety of nations of this era.
I doubt any one of the changes made included a complete refresh of sitting around waiting to be issued equipment and clothing.

Whether it is necessary for gaming models remains moot. As long as one can identify the intended unit, is all that matters. Great for confusing the enemy tho- are those Dragoons or Light??!

Are these suitable for 1805 or are they 1809 onwards?

SHaT198403 Jul 2020 3:52 a.m. PST

Is there a difference?
Last change was c1800 wasnt it and not another until post-period?
