Very nicely done!

Good on you, great army. I am doing a very similar project in 1/72, slightly different figures (mainly Italeri) and slightly different paint schemes, but very similar. You work is inspiration!

Thank you!
Hagar: are your figures on display somewhere on the web ? You made me curious, I would really like to have a look :)

Philotep,

I will get them up eventually, but after not painting for a long time I am now in a pandemic isolation frenzy lol. Currently finishing Polybian and Syracusan (nearly there), then Carthagian, then the Crusaders. I am dreading the Crusaders opponents though – I am pairing them with Ayyubids. Mostly cavalry, and very colourful; will take forever!

Awesome. I love them. Great research, as usually. Will steal.

Beautiful army.

Thanks you very much.
Hagar: highly interested in your Syracusans, and curious to see your choice of minis. Regarding Ayyubids, I agree, they are splendid but very difficult to paint, for instance:

My Syracusans are a morph of my DBA Italiot army. The Italiots are the Greek looking ones from Hat Italian Allies, and some Giant figures (Hong Kong). The Giant figures are 1/72 copies of 1/32 Marx. Rounded out with Atlantic Greek cavalry. To morph into Syracusan I've added more Italian allies, more Atlantic Cavalry, Airfix Ancient Britons as the warband, and Hat Greek catapults. 2 colours and basing to go!

Nice list! Are the giants needed to play a HoTT version of your list ? Which sounds very promising.

Hagar the Horrible11 May 2020 2:15 p.m. PST

No, not "giants" as in really big dudes – Giant was a brand of toy soldiers from Hong Kong in the 1960's and 1970's. They were infamous for copying other manufacturers figures.

Oh I didn't know this brand, sorry for the mistake :)
