Interesting that a howitzer shell from 1815 should still be technically viable; enough to be destroyed rather than conserved.

In my ignorance, I thought gunpowder was a more fragile compound than that.

I attended a presentation put on by the Project – one of their significant problems is sorting the genuine artifacts from the many historically accurate replicas inadvertently discarded by re-enactors over many years.
