just finished watching this on Netflix..appaently huge in Arabic world and of course Israel en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fauda Captain Ayub! Superb and made with many of the main characters if not CT operators at least with IDF experience and being Israel probably all still reservists. Obviously has certain political dimensions but in terms of seeing Israeli kit and the general topic of CT ops which obviously people do play, very interesting

I love it and consider it a guilty pleasure of sorts. Doron is such a meathead but lovable. His actions and emotions end up getting alot of people around him killed and he just shrugs things off and says "sorry". I find how they portray the different groups very interesting. I saw that season 3 was recently released and can't wait to watch it. |

I just finished season 3 also. It is a fascinating series, the actor who plays Doron was in an Israeli undercover unit like that in real life, and he is also the co-creator of the show. I notice he always gets the best-looking girlfriends, I guess a side benefit of being the co-creator. He has led a very interesting life: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lior_Raz It has very intense action sequences, but some stretch belief a bit too much. Does his unit ever have a plan other than 'dress up like Arabs, then when we are discovered shoot everything that moves'? It makes you wonder why Doron's commanders even bother giving him orders. The missions seemed wildly under-thought with no backup or plan b', but if you can ignore that it is a good show, I think they are already under contract for a 4th season. I didn't like the ending of season 3, it seemed to just set up season 4 with a new protagonist and a new reason for Doron to be PO (as if the death of many of his friends and family wasn't enough). However they do a good job of showing the stress that their work puts on the personal lives of the team. They do try to be even-handed with the Palestinians, but if you read some reviews they point out how inaccurate the portrayal of the situation in Israel is, for example in particular the view of life in the Gaza Strip. But you do learn a lot about life there, I even pull out my atlas of Israel to see what city they are operating in. |

Love it too. Just finished Season 3 last weekend. Will be re-watching them all in about 6 months. |

yes just finished season 3. I thought probably the least good of the 3 and seems to be a common view..both 1 and 2 had some superb villains on the Hamas/ISIS side which 3 didn't have. I have mixed feelings about the criticisms..some in Israel criticize it for being too gung ho and anti Palestinian (incl all the head shots on wounded enemies) which seems to be maybe more arguing with how things are probably done in real life (they don't seem to be bothered by post incident shooting enquiries at least in the TV series). Those on the more conservative side mainly disagree that it doesn't portray the IDF and intelligence services as more (ruthlessly) professional and effective. And that he gets any woman with a pulse (maybe things are different in Israel but rather typical from the military esp SF people i have met) On the Arab/Muslim side people are of course offended that they see it as pro Israel which kind of is what i would expect..a series made by a British company about a British Army undercover unit in Ulster wouldn't be portraying the IRA in an equal light. Some of the criticisms were almost laughable..there would be no music of that kind and women present at Hamas homecomings…Palestinian security service personnel wouldnt be friendly (at the same time as saying that its estimated that 40% of all attacks are prevented by the Palestinian Authority's security forces…so again sounds like they saying more shouldn't than wouldnt) Slightly typical sadly that the main points of criticism by a representative of the Palestinian community are in effect how dare they show women and men mixing and how dare they show Muslims and Jews being friendly, Kind of says it all! |

its also the case that some at least real life Israeli ops have not been as professional as one might think and would fit in well with Fauda |
