I'm a great fan of FOB and noticed today that it's newest version is now available.
I instantaneously ordered it and afterwards asking you if anybody had the opportunity to test it :-)

A new version?

FOB, it's a thing you keep your car keys on :)

Saw that. Wonder what the difference is? I didn't care for it in Napoleonics (no emergency square).

Hi gents,

sorry I should have stated it completely – Piquet Field of Battle 3

Card-based system, covers 1642 to 1900

Not played in my neck of the woods.

Mostly BP or BP2.

I was one of the first to order it but it'll probably be a week or 2 before it comes. I think the pdf version should be available by the end of next week.

Waiting for PDF version.

I will do a blog post on FoB3 soon, but key differences:

1) Rules/"Lists" to cover the English Civil War

2) Inclusion of the "Season of Battle" simple campaign system

3) UI per unit changes slightly to 4 for Infantry and Cavalry, 3 for Artillery. Units are now removed at zero UI.

4) Sequence deck compositions change, and now there are only three, Poor, Average, and Skilled. The only difference between them are the number of Lull and Leadership Cards: Poor 3 Lull, 3 Leadership, Average 2 Lull, 4 Leadership, and Skilled 1 Lull and 5 Leadership.

5) The definition of the Leadership Card changes, and now includes Maneuvering (the Maneuver card is gone!), and "Daring Deeds".

6) There are clarifications to movement, especially as regards to bridges, Fords, linear obstacles etc, and limits to interpenetration.

7) new Pursuit rules.

Still no Emergency Square rule, but not hard to add (for Napoleonic era) – For example, roll the Defense die type of the infantry against the Defense Die Type of the attacking cavalry, if the infantry win, they form square; if not they don't (no penalty for the attempt). If you want to get fancy, you can add a modifier – Cavalry charged from less than 6", Infantry Down 1, 6.1-12 " no change, 12.1 – 24" Infantry Up 1, 24.1 – 36" Infantry Up 2. Easy-peasy!

Will a pdf version be released?

If yes, when please?

Gonsalvo27 Apr 2020 7:11 p.m. PST

Yes, there will be a pdf version. Soon, hopefully within the next week.

Excellent!

Dear Gonsalvo,

thanks for the compact info und the hack for squares.
I'll note that in my rules.

Also great news on the PDF. I ordered the rules and 2 card decks at sundays. Is there a discount for me?

I placed an order on April 26th.
I tried to make contact but didn't receive a reply since my order was received by Piquet.
Are there any problems over there?

I received a very good answer from Brent yesterday.
I didn't notice that the ruleset is produced via POD
