Given that it appears most passenger flights between the USA and UK/Europe appear to have been seriously curtailed, if not totally suspended, I'm curious about inbound air cargo/Royal Mail shipments to the USA, from the UK.

I had the impression that air cargo was still moving, albeit possibly a bit slower than normal, but don't know if that is now still true, given so many people around the globe being out of work, or locked down at home.

Anyone received stuff from the UK recently, and if so, what were the transit times?

Seems as if the situation is getting worse, with delays, and/or long delays to be expected.

I'm also curious about the shipment of parcels within the USA as well. Up until about the beginning of April, seemed like service was as good, if not better than before, but imagine with more people now being out of work, etc., that may be slowing down too.

Any first-hand experience, or reasonably well-founded rumors?

Shipping within the US seems to be fine. I ordered a camera lens last week from NYC and it arrived today having shipped on Sunday so that is about right. Amazon seems to be prioritizing items that fit the Covid-19 sales criteria they have established and along with what is likely some well deserved labor problems has slowed down getting things out the door. Transit times still seem to be about what they were.

I got a package from Scale Creep. Speedy as usual within USA.

Amazon running 2-3 days later than usual.

I got a package from Black Scorpion on Tuesday, three weeks from the date of shipment. Not too bad I think.

I have seen Amazon take 7-10 days longer on packages that were obviously not critical. They notified me via email of the changes in arrival which was fine. I know our local Amazon warehouse had a partial shutdown due to the virus which probably was part of it.

My last delivery from the UK (an imported food item ordered February 1st) was so late Amazon declared it lost. It did eventually arrive though this week. My April Wargames Illustrated magazine has still not arrived.

My Pulp Alley subscription arrived in a timely manner. So I would say it really varies.

Ordered a book from Helion, shipped 3/30, still waiting.

I've ordered a few domestic US items, they have all arrived as expected. The one item is not due from the UK until 4 May.

I paid premium mail for a thermometer from Amazon Prime – It arrived 20 days later – being held in the post office in Dayton Ohio – without explanation for 18 days!

Sheesh – the regular USPS is running much smoother at this point – but Amazon may well indeed have a much higher volume of parcels that the USPS.

Ordered a couple of DVDs from England to New Jersey, they came in about a week, air mail

One book I ordered through Amazon was due tomorrow, but now it says sometime between tomorrow and the 28th. The other (Bolt Action rules) won't ship until May 18. Apparently they need to get some in stock, and they come from Britain.

USPS may be a bit spotty--when we mailed our taxes, I was told the distribution center in Denver was short handed and things were being sent to Albuquerque and then out, so I should expect things to take a few days extra.

I'm in Canada, so different postal services involved. I got an order from Perry Miniatures on Tuesday that was shipped on March 17, so 5 weeks, about a week or two slower than usual. On the other hand, my Pulp Figures Dangerous Dames arrived today, having been shipped yesterday – 24 h for domestic service!

EMS/airmail/surface from Japan is now suspended to all countries. DHL and UPS are still shipping out of Japan apparanlty.

I got a package from USA to Australia last week but took a week longer than usual.

I have a package through ebay overdue from the UK for 2 weeks now

Thanks for all the info and replies. I really appreciate them.

Looks like US mail is still pretty much standard, which is good to see.

Sad to hear about EMS/airmail from Japan, since that is pretty affordable.

Last shipment I got from Hong Kong, was a little slower than normal – 2-3 days, to a week or so.

Shipments I got from the UK months ago, before all this started were usually pretty quick, e.g. 5 – 10 days, but I had one that took a few extra weeks due to government screening of the Royal Mail.

I hope UK to US shipments get sorted, and things get back to normal, since there's a lot of 1/144th stuff coming out soon for WWII and the Cold War that I'm interested in.

Most internal (US) has arrived pretty much on schedule. One hasn't arrived at all, and the USPS tells me they're looking for it. The one from the UK appears to have simply vanished. I'm not going to do anything about that before fall, on the assumption it's held up somewhere in the system.

No problems what-so-ever on any local US deliveries but am still waiting on an order from the UK from mid February.

I ordered rules from England and were advised that they were shipped 3/21 and have not arrived. I have contacted seller and were advised they may have been lost and they reshipped yesterday.

I had a USPS Priority shipment go missing a while back.

Delivery confirmation to my house, interestingly enough, which when they checked into it they found it was delivered to a completely different address and city 60 miles away.

The USPS people really didn't have a GOOD explanation as to how that was possible.

Two a few weeks of badgering them, but I eventually got the item. At first, it didn't appear they'd do anything about it, even thought they knew they address where they'd mis-delivered it to, which was rather shocking.

"Delivery Confirmation" isn't worth the paper it's printed on.

And something back from USPS. They've got a warehouse full of stuff in Michigan which appears to function as a black hole. Nothing's left it in at least two weeks, and no one knows when anything will.

One presumes eventually everything will be delivered, but I wouldn't plan a game around an arrival date.

Zagloba24 Apr 2020 6:03 p.m. PST

Ordered from Crooked Dice UK on March 20th, arrived middle of the US on March 30th. Sarissa shipped an order Wednesday, we'll see if it takes a similar amount of time.

Do not confuse Amazon's delays with anyone else's, they are not adverse to blaming their own issues on shippers.

aynsley68329 Apr 2020 4:23 a.m. PST

Have ordered from UK , it was posted on the 15th , still not here yet.

People at my local post office aren't sure what's going on or what the hold up could be, Royal Mail website says US is doing some sort of quarantining on post so there will be a delay. Haven't seen it mentioned anywhere else.

So will give it another fortnight before enquiring as to its whereabouts, no complaints especially with what's going on presently.
