So given how popular this is for wargaming, I can't seem to find many who makes them for wargamers.
Cigar box battle mats said a few of their mats were available in teddy bear fur. But doesn't look to be available any more.

You have dogs, so put them to work tracking them down.

A scoped weapon is a good idea, since some teddies can be rather small.

Killing Fields make them:

Like the Killing fields static grass mat.

This is the company in the US that I have purchased fur from. The stuff they supply is very good quality and plush enough to give a good mat. The good stuff is not cheap though.

Your local fabric retailer might have some.

Teddy Bear season is in the late fall here just before Christmas.

Yes, Joann Fabrics has plenty and can be ordered online. Probably not the color you might want, but easily can be dyed.

Actually that's probably a better way to go as many of the commercial "game mats" are way too dark and many games I have seen give the impression of battles being waged at dusk!

I got a couple of bags of teddy bear fur from Colonel Bills.

Reasonably priced too.

One thing I have noticed is that the material that most fabric retailers have is pretty short fiber and it also does not take paint very well. It is cheaper though.

I finally found faux teddy bear fur in local fabric store.

Dagwood23 Apr 2020 5:21 a.m. PST

… and with faux teddy bear fur you can be reassured that no teddy bears were harmed ….

Couldn't find any at colonel Bill's. And killing fields is out of stock.

And I can't order anything from the US. As there are no planes going between US and Europe.

JimDuncanUK23 Apr 2020 6:33 a.m. PST

Loads of options on Amazon but I don't know about delivery to Norway.

The Wargaming Company ( people who make ESR) have the Killing Fields mats. thewargamingcompany.com

Thanks, I ordered from them, We'll see when it shows up. I have a tank from amazon that just disappeared.

I got mine from Mendel's in San Francisco. You can order swatches as well.

But how many fauxes were killed? And don't get me started on the unnecessary slaughter of naugas for my parent's couch in the 70's!

I always recommend looking through the remnants bin. There's almost always some good terrain craft stuff there. But without physically going, that's tough.

I assume that if people are ordering online, they still end up with remnants. Probably more (per transaction). "Hey, do you want to take these last two yards on the roll? I'll give you half off." doesn't work well online.

I wonder if they'll start "Add a bag of mystery remnants to your order for $10 USD"?

As there are no planes going between US and Europe.

That's not even vaguely close to true.

Gee, I could make a killing selling black market teddy bear fur, that and my idea for locust, "hop"sicles will set me up in my retirement!!

Gotta be careful though or else the WWF will wanna put Teddy Bears on the endangered species list.

Thresher0125 Apr 2020 4:49 p.m. PST

Shhhh, be vewy, vewy quiet.

I'm hunting wabbits!

von Schwartz26 Apr 2020 8:40 a.m. PST

Wow!!! I barely survived!!! I came upon a HUGE pack of the voracious beasts in my local Wally World. They were plotting their invasion of the sporting goods department, having already conquered most of the toy department. I managed to escape through the children's department, little girls with sticky hands scare the H*ll outa them!

The WWF did have Naugas on their endangered species list, and I hear that the faux have been recovering nicely (the little things breed like rabbits, or wabbits if you prefer)

I had a genuine, imitation, naugahyde, Barca-lounger back in the day!
