3mm? My god any colour would do! You'll have to be more specific. Which nation? Which type of troops? |

Khaki would be good for generic troops in Africa. |

You could use a more mustard khaki for Germans, and a lighter khaki for Brit empire. Nigerians had nice green pillbox hats. If they make Confederates in 3mm, bush/slouch hats came in for the Askari of both sides late in the war. In fact, slouch hats would probably look like Wolseley sunhelmets as well in 3mm! Please show us pics of your figs and battles in due course! |

I have found this book to be useful. link
This is good too. link Durban is good with idea of Confederates as the German Schutztruppen started with fezes but went to slouch hat later. The Germans in the force had slouch hats with turned up side (the southwest africa hat). KGL had mostly fez. Lots of info here, have some one describe the pictures to you. Must be difficult to paint and play games when color blind. link |

Cheers for the info. I will post pictures when done. Once I know the colours to use its ok. Gaming is not a problem. Only have issues with Brown, green, red. And blue, mauve and purple Did paint superman figure purple years ago, made my friends laugh. Still game with the same friends 35 years later. Many Thanks Rich |

Some type of khaki, Difference between Brits and Germans doesn't much matter as they were wearing each other's uniforms. Check out this site; germancolonialuniforms.co.uk |
