A couple of months before Christmas our little wargames group discovered Warlord Games SPQR ruleset and seemingly from nowhere we have all put together warbands for the Ceasarian Roman period. As Xmas was approaching I decided to make a few watchtowers as presents for each of us, all being uniquely different as they would be from different parts of the Roman Empire. The first of them that I made was probably the most recognisable and this is it. More details of how I built it and more photo's can be found on my blog: link

I heard some negative reviews of SPQR, so glad to hear someone is having fun with it! |

Love the fact that you based the Tower… That will save a lot of wear and tear on the models. Looks fantastic. Did you use one of Fat Dragon Games' castle models for the stone texture? It sure looks familiar. I've used their basic Keep model textures to create round towers, and a much larger city gate, for fantasy games. I print it on full-sheet label paper, gluing it to 2mm cardboard. Works superbly for a skin over an easy-to-build skeleton. Cheers! |

Thanks for the feedback! The SPQR rules are like most I guess, some people like them and some don't. For our purposes they do the job we want and we don't have any complaints. The wallpaper I think I got from Wargames Vault, but then again I may have made it myself or tinkered with it. The doorways and windows I did get from paper models but again I changed the colour to match the stonework. |
