Just looking for some feedback. I obtained the Barzso character set of Daniel Boone, Rebecca, Israel, and Mingo to use for some gaming using THW Long Rifle rules. I think that I will paint them, but was curious as to opinions about painting "collector" miniatures. I know that they are mine and all, but would it be looked upon as blasphemous?

One cannot truly enjoy the splendor of a Veuve Clicquot '93 without popping the cork.

One cannot truly enjoy the splendor of a Barzso Daniel Boone '93 without brush and paint.

Lol! Thanks.

They cease being a "collectible" the moment you open the original packaging, so paint away (but do do them justice with a superb paint job… ;-)

That's the trick, isn't it. They are good looking 54's,and I will do my best.

I have had my times as a "Collector".

And I have un-boxed so many, just to enjoy them more. Items that are un-played with are essentially dead. Yes, purely as an investment this is not so wise. But we are talking about toys and not investments. Ironically, a complete paint cover will protect the plastic underneath. You might end up with figures that last longer then those collecting them.

Paul, Ron Barzso did not make those figures as a collector's item; he made them to be used (played with) just like a Marx playset. Paint your figures and use them in your game. I have the whole Danial Boone playset. I don't paint my figures, but that is mainly because I never painted my old Marx sets. If you can, post a picture of the finished figures. You might convince me to try painting some of them.
