The catalogs I have for 15mm Essex are from U.S. importers. The 1996-97 catalog from Wargames, Inc. does not have any AA codes.
The 1993 catalog from Wargames, Inc. has several AA codes for Visigoths, but not with three-digit numbers. They are:
AA1 – Light cavalry
AA2 – Visigoth spearman
AA3 – Visigoth archer
AA4 – Visigoth slinger
AA5 – Heavy cavalry
AA5A – Extra heavy cavalry
That is all I was able to find.

I don't remember ever having an Essex catalogue (and I've got a good collection of old ones) but bought loads of their figures, always at shows.

I only remember 3 figure codes I can recall were for horse & musket armies where lots of figures were generic so ranges with the same letter code stretched beyond 100 – but not to 400 or more.

It is possible that these are stock codes used by a distributor when assembling army packs or codes relating to moulds ?

I checked the listings in the EHQ 1996 catalog and all the
Essex AA listings are Dark Ages as LaserGrenadier indicated. The only Essex army pack that I have is marked with an RMA (ready- made army) code.

So what do the figures look like? Can you identify them that way?

If they're or DBM then the code should correspond with the army list. The first number would probably be the army book number then the second two the army in that book.

Since DBM only had three books, (I think), they're probably for another system. Warrior perhaps?

Dn Jackson05 Apr 2020 9:43 p.m. PST

With a prefix code of AA they might be armies for Armati

Hughes197006 Apr 2020 5:14 a.m. PST
