"Fifty years doesn't seem like a very long time in the vast scheme of things, but it's enough time for things to have drastically changed. The differences between the late 1960s and today go beyond the obvious, such as the astonishing technological advances that have been made since then. Beauty standards were also shockingly different, reflecting the turbulence of the era. Here are some of the most surprising things that men found attractive 50 years ago…"

I gave up part-way through. I was 17 fifty years ago, and she's nuts more often than not. FYI "women dressed this way" is long way from "men enjoyed women dressed this way." The gulf between designers of women's fashions and "men" may be even wider. There was comment at the time that the "concentration camp look"--emaciated and androgynous--was being pushed by designers who had no other use for women.

Of course, she doesn't remember any of this--too young--and being a high-status New Yorker, she'd lose caste by looking at magazines, TV shows--or paperback covers!--where the women were supposed to be attractive to men, much less talking to people who remembered the era.

For those of you not born or too young in 1970, if you want to know what men found attractive in women at the time, check out Classic Trek--just going into syndication--or old Frank Frazetta paperback covers, which were being sold as posters. Plenty of straight hair and exposed legs. Not a lot of flat chests and emaciation.

Robert is correct. I gave up at "smoking;" it was never attractive.

No matter what if she's smokes I won't have anything to do with her. Of course most females won't have anything to do with me … so it works out … evil grin

Interesting perspective – I am not sure the soberiety and athletic ability are bad things, though

I'm out on anybody who smokes. Keep your poor life decisions away from me. However, I am in favor of mini skirts.

Fashions and styles come and go, but a beautiful women is still beautiful no matter how she dresses or wears her hair.

I think part of the key was that fashion designers wanted all women to look like young boys.

As I recall, from sneaking a peek at some of my old uncle's men's magazines, that was not what men were looking for.
