I always thought that the KV-2 was the strangest looking tank. |

A tank specially designed to storm and break through concrete fortifications. It appeared as a desire to overcome the problems encountered during the storming of the Finnish Mannerheim Line. In fact, this is a self-propelled assault gun, but equipped with a rotating turret. |

Completely unrelated comment but it is very noticeable in these pictures how thin real tanks tracks are compared to the "rubber band" types on 1/76 and 1/72 kits. |

Word is on a incline the turret can't be rotated, but you have to appreciate the pure size of that monster. |

It also has been widely reported that firing the gun with the turret over 15 degrees off from straight on had a tendency to unseat the turret. |

It looks exactly like what a kid would draw if you told a kid to draw a tank. |

Poke all the fun you want but if you were in a German PzKw III and got hit with one of its shells, armor piercing or not, it HURT. Cheers! |

With all the shortcomings of this tank, there was nothing like that at that moment. To destroy it was extremely problematic and the main losses of the KV-2 were not combat (tanks were abandoned or destroyed by their crews during the retreat, as a result of lack of fuel, breakdowns or stuck). |
