Looking for some small-ish sleek retro warships, specifically to match up with the styles of Starfire and Triplanetary. I'd like a battleship to be about an inch, and the small ships to be 1/4 to 1/2", but I'm open for some variation there. I prefer the sleek retro look to the "all our plumbing is outside" retro look, which to me says "we have no armor". I haven't had luck searching for myself, and Shapeways is a pain to find stuff in. If you've already worked on this, please post some info. Thanks! |

I take it scratch building is out? Due to the small size there shouldn't be too much work involved. I'd look around for a half dozen identical things that catch your eye to be the basis of class/side of ships desired and work it from there. |

At that size, you could get some bomb kits for small scale military planes (1/72 – 1/144 scale) and mount them on small bases. |

Ravenstar's Retro Earth line may work, but are a bit large for what you are looking for I think. link |

I'm with Captain Beefheart. Maybe take a trip to the hardware store? |

For the hardware store, consider plastic "mollies" aka "wall anchors." They're very rocket like, and you can attach fins (if you wan't em) made of plastic sheet (old gift cards or credit cards are a possible source). Otherwise, TMP's very own Javelin98 sells these on Shapeways: link But they may be a little small for what you want? |

Parzival! Mollies were the first thing I thought of! The exteriors give that 'robot puke' look and the hollow insides leave room for all types of simple additions or could be filled with modeling epoxy. |

The inner "guts" of pump action dispensers such as for liquid soap or hand lotion make useful parts as well. |

PSC are selling a bag of ships for a song at the moment. They are a good deal bigger, byt would make for great bits fodder if you wanted to convert or scratchbuild: link G. |

Do they have a US distributor? |

Hey Goober, Thanks, I was actually looking at cheap plastic space ship game pieces but haven't found quite what I want yet. Anyone have something else? Risk perhaps? |

Wow, forgot what a great resource Star Ranger is: star-ranger.com/Minis.htm I've sent him email to see if he has suggestions – just too much stuff to go thru! |

Something like this? shpws.me/DWp1
I also sell the STL files themselves, if you want to print them at home. link

Ive ck'd on some of those "Micro Fleet" sets for ST and BSG, they look great. And, I have to say the listing is Honest: From the dimensions I can guesstimate, they truly ARE "Micro" size. Depending on the set, the ship could sit on a quarter. |
TheBeast | 09 Jun 2020 1:25 p.m. PST |
I've some of the micro's, and the smallest could easily fit on pennies. Or even pfennigs. Those are smaller, right? I'll look again, but I think the largest would still fit a quarter, easily. Alas, still in the pile waiting paint… Doug |
