Anyone recommend an Americana paint color that works well for German infantry uniforms (or a mix of Americana paints)? I can't seem to get a color that looks quite right. I know there are various specialty colors out there, but I like my cheap craft paints!

While not Americana the Hippo Grey by similar brand Cermacoat makes a pretty good early war tunic color. Cermacoat Charcoal isnt a bad panzer grey.

Take a look at Thicket DA 357. It's close enough for me to the Vallejo German uniform color. I shade it with various gray to fit.

Thanks!

Another vote for the Hippo Grey.

For any craft paint the easiest way to pick a color is to bring in a picture of the color and pick the paint that is the closest match.

I'd agree with Dynaman but I'd further suggest that you need more than one colour for German uniforms:

Post-war fading aside, there is absolutely no way that those tunics were ever the same colour as one another to begin with. Anything that looks about right to you is almost certainly good.

Don't forget to paint their boots brown, not black.
