We kick off the Chain of Command campaign '29, Let's Go!' with a probe scenario at La Cambe. A platoon from the US 175th infantry regiment is attempting to push inland from Omaha and make the link with Utah. This is a first outing for my American platoon and it's great to finally get them on the table. A full AAR can be found here Probe at La Cambe

We had fun with this mini campaign as well. As the German player I held up the Americans for four Turns on this scenario. |

A nail-biter watching the US build-up while the Jerries kept their powder dry. Unfortunately when most are deployed the US has so much firepower they can pretty much squash anything that turns up. Also they can squander men as in this campaign they seem to grow on trees while German reinforcements are a bit like hen's teeth. I've always tended to hold back in defence from deploying until the last safe moment so probably would've done something similar. Can't wait for the next scenario. A question: do the Americans get a new platoon every game or every scenario? That is, if they fail a scenario do they keep the same platoon or can they swap it out? |

A question: do the Americans get a new platoon every game or every scenario? That is, if they fail a scenario do they keep the same platoon or can they swap it out? The Americans have no shortage of men and can feed in new platoons for every single game. A tough proposition for the Germans. That said the current German platoon only operates on three maps. Two other maps cover action on either side of the main US advance and for each of these a fresh German platoon is available. The German goal is to delay the Americans not stop them outright, so needs some careful play. Frankly I like the challenge. I need to stand and fight but only when I can see an advantage to doing so, otherwise I'm incurring casualties for no gain. |
