Please see link for another Napoleonic refight using Baccus 6mm figures and Phil Barker's Horse, Foot and Guns ruleset, featuring Napoleon's attempt to destroy Sacken's isolated Corps.

A great AAR and your game table and miniatures look fantastic. Thanks for posting. |

Nicely done; Montmirail is a good excuse to dust off those seldom used French Imperial Guard troops! |

Great AAR. HFG an interesting set. But as you say has "hidden byways" in the sense of a lot of nuancing. Last HFG game 2 of us played these slowed things down. |

Many thanks all. But as you say has "hidden byways" in the sense of a lot of nuancing. Last HFG game 2 of us played these slowed things down. Yes, absolutely. So as in all DBx games, a lot of the detail of how to play the game well you work out backwards from the combat results table combined with the more straightforward combat factors table; although HFG does have many more factors in the latter than in, say, DBA. Because the Russian line infantry is rated as a fundamentally different troop type to French infantry, then it does take a while to learn what combat result means what for each army; even troop quality is much more nuanced than +1 for Elite, -1 for Raw… |
