"The Russian Navy's Kara Class cruiser is the epitome of the Soviet design aesthetic. Its clipper bow, towering superstructure, ginormous radars and mass of weapons presented a purposeful silhouette. Designed before stealth became a consideration, its decks were cluttered but brutally functional. Consequently it was well known to NATO sailors and was a staple of warship recognition guides. Finally the last Kara Class cruiser, RFS Kerch, has been decommissioned after 45 years of service.
