"The Russian Navy's Kara Class cruiser is the epitome of the Soviet design aesthetic. Its clipper bow, towering superstructure, ginormous radars and mass of weapons presented a purposeful silhouette. Designed before stealth became a consideration, its decks were cluttered but brutally functional. Consequently it was well known to NATO sailors and was a staple of warship recognition guides.

Finally the last Kara Class cruiser, RFS Kerch, has been decommissioned after 45 years of service. Now that the end of its tenure has arrived, it is a warship which will be missed…"
