Has anyone worked on/with these miniatures before, e.g. the Kamiya 1/144th scale, 3-D printed, resin models?

I suspect prepping/cleaning may be similar to those for other "resin" 3-D printed minis, but thought I'd inquire here.

They look pretty nice, and offer some miniature vehicles for WWII and the Cold War/Modern eras not found from other sources.

Some are pretty clean, with little to no striations, but others have some of that visible too. I'd like recommendations on dealing with the latter ones, in order to smooth out the surfaces for those – perhaps several coats of primer, or other materials in order to eliminate any visible print lines, before painting?

Most of our army's are 3D printed so I can speak from knowledge. My advice is put a figure down on your table at a representative wargames distance. Its almost certain you will not se ANY striations at that reange. This is confirmed by ad hoc enquireies at show events. Painting will reduce it somewhat but that will not really be significant as you can't see the effect anyway at sensible ranges.

If you want model railway standard i.e. looking at it from 2 inches then you will have all on to do stuff. but proably the same as you would do to remove metal flash and moulding lines from castings.

And let us know how you like them. I have seen them on Ebay and tempted to start filling out my 1/144th scale force as well. If possible contrasting their size with such true 1/144th scale vehicles as the Dragon CanDo range. Speaking of which Dragon has a new line of 1/144th scale plastic kits out:

The only advice I can give is not to do any light dry brushing. Otherwise, at normal table distances you don't notice. Here is a printed turret on a plastic kit:

thanks for the tip on the dragon models – but honestly – 10 models – 10 German!

Victrix are about to release 1/144 tanks – some Allied ones in there:

A pity there are so few new Dragon models.

I could use some more PzIVHs, but imagine they'll be hard to get in volume. HLJ was limiting them to 10 per person, and appeared to be sold out of them, last I checked, so I'll probably just wait for some from Victrix, instead, if their quality is decent.

I hear you Thresher. These are nice and seem based on their earlier CanDo range. Unfortunately, or fortunately, I got quite a few of these from their CanDo range which of course was assembled and painted, when they were still available for a quite reasonable price on Ebay. Same for World Tank Museum stuff.

Thanks for the suggestions and info. I really appreciate it.

I think most of the Kamiya minis look very nice.

A little disappointed with the M60A1s, since the striation lines on those for the top of the hull look a little more pronounced, even compared to its M60A2 cousin.
