Overtime we have seen some wonderful gaming spaces – curious

How many of us have

a – All the space you need to play
b – a place you can leave things set up
c – need more elbow room
d – You have space you can use when you need it
e – You go to a club space
f – You game at a friends gaming space
g – You have a Dream Space

I'd say b,d,e and f.

GildasFacit Sponsoring Member of TMP09 Mar 2020 12:03 p.m. PST

d & f for me

I have a 1.4x0.8m workbench that folds up at the back to make a 1.4x1.2m wargaming table but that doesn't class as 'all the space needed to play' because it isn't big enough for some games.

2 mates have larger tables and much more space than I have but, even so, I consider myself quite lucky that I do have a dedicated workroom/gaming space at all – many don't.

JimDuncanUK09 Mar 2020 12:06 p.m. PST

I have a 12 x 4 foot table in a dedicated wargames hut so I am probably an 'a' but also a 'b' and 'c'.

Tom Reed09 Mar 2020 12:10 p.m. PST

I have a 5'x7.5' table in my game room, with space for chairs around it. There is storage space in a closet along one wall and on some shelves along another wall…and under the table in some boxes.

robert piepenbrink Supporting Member of TMP09 Mar 2020 12:10 p.m. PST

I can get up to a 6x12, but 6x8 is a better fit. And I can leave a 4x4 set up indefintely. Say b, c and d. Though f is also true sometimes.

shaun from s and s models09 Mar 2020 12:15 p.m. PST

a: A ping-pong table, if I can clean it off…

I used to play ping-pong, too!

A. Very large basement room. Lucky man!

evbates09 Mar 2020 12:40 p.m. PST

A and B. I have two 6x8 foot tables and a 4x4.

Dynaman878909 Mar 2020 12:41 p.m. PST

A – when I kick the kids out of half the basement (since they are both adults now that is both easier and harder then you might think).

B – Once setup I can leave it setup. I also have a game room upstairs with a 4 by 6 table and that always has an ongoing game setup.

LaserGrenadier Supporting Member of TMP09 Mar 2020 12:46 p.m. PST

I have a 10 by 12 foot table in a dedicated wargame room with shelving on three walls and under the table. I can leave games up as long as I want. So a and b, but others would would probably say g!

Lascaris09 Mar 2020 12:59 p.m. PST

A, B & F

14Bore09 Mar 2020 1:10 p.m. PST

A&B but while alright could use C due to a 12' x 6'-7" table

D, A, and B.

I can declare eminent domain to any part of ~2700 sq ft house on ~1 acre. Leaving things set up is mitigated on the outside of the house by weather.

Prince Rupert of the Rhine09 Mar 2020 1:41 p.m. PST

My wife let me have the garage. It's not bad, I mean it could be bigger, have cider on tap served by a busty wench and a bit more natural light but really I have room for a painting area, storage and a 5x4 table so I'm pretty happy. I guess B,C,D

TMPWargamerabbit09 Mar 2020 1:54 p.m. PST

Go with A, B, D and I guess G for me.

The warren game room:

With 12x5 table in place. Can go to 15x6 if needed plus there is a larger shaded patio outside for the mega sized game.

Running a Clash of Empires 28mm Sassanid vs. Late Roman game on March 21st. Ten players currently have RSVP.

I'm lucky with A and B. An 80' X 20' studio up on the first terrace.

However, it also doubles as one of our guest lodging spaces when friends are in town.

a,b,d,f. An unfinished basement isn't the greatest of gaming areas, but plenty of room and multiple tables. A little shaky on leaving stuff up as the cat often hops on the table…

Probably should have added a response about gaming at the Favorite Local Gaming Store (FLGS), which I also do.

Used to be a G, now its more of an N/A. I'm stuck inna unused corner of the garage if my wife doesn't pull the mini-van in too far.

B: I have a custom gaming table, 5-feet by 9-feet, set up in the finished basement; I use it for both miniatures gaming, and RPG games. That's the good news. The bad news is that I game with 54mm Army Men figures, and I'm too old to play on the floor anymore. Got my nephew into it, too: he has a garage/shop which is 40-feet square. We've set up 12-feet by 30-feet tables once, planning to do it again, in a few months, for another Army Men game. His 'table' puts my 5x9 to shame… Cheers!

A, B, E, & F. When we bought our current house, I was able to utilize a small attached living area as my gaming area. It has two adjoining rooms and a separate bathroom. I have a 4 foot by 6 foot table set up in one for miniatures and two card tables in the other for board games. The board game room also has my painting area. One of our cats also has laid a claim to these rooms and gets upset when I close the doors when I have a table or board game set up. He sleeps on top of the miniatures table so my wife refers to him as black cat mountain. So regardless of this space, C also applies.

tomrommel110 Mar 2020 3:18 a.m. PST

A for me. Very large room in basement

Jcfrog10 Mar 2020 3:36 a.m. PST

A as seen on my site.

D,E,F – the club is much less disruptive then playing at home and I would never meet new people without a public space.

I have a 15'x5' table with chairs against the wall and 6 bookcases full of miniatures and terrain. Also under the table is storage where I keep boxes and boxes of more terrain. plenty of room for a dozen or more players to move around the table without problems. I also have a separate room dedicated to painting with 6 more bookcases and a table for painting and also a desk with my computer plus a closet with more stuff.

Thomas O10 Mar 2020 7:10 a.m. PST

b,c,& f I have a dedicated room in the basement with 4'X6'table, bookcases for terrain, boxes of miniatures, rules and other game related items also two cabinets with glass doors for miniatures. My ideal space would have room for a 5'X9' table. I do have a separate room for painting which is upstairs with a window and is very nice. Used to paint in the basement so being in a place where I can see the sky and hear birds while painting is great.

A – The garage is mostly mine and have a permanent table.

D. But I have to take it down when the battle is done

Chuckaroobob11 Mar 2020 9:21 p.m. PST

A, B, F. The basement is permanently all gaming all the time, if only i could keep it organized.

A few of my friends also have permanent gaming setups.

Blackhorse MP19 Mar 2020 1:08 p.m. PST

A and B. Believe it or not that was the #1 concern when I was looking to buy a new house.

Fitzovich Supporting Member of TMP15 Apr 2020 3:47 a.m. PST

I have a 3x4 table area next to my home work bench. It is okay. Certainly I would love to have a beautifully appointed and dedicated large room for gaming but without a winning lottery ticket that will not happen.

rampantlion15 Apr 2020 10:01 a.m. PST

D, E and F. I have cats so I couldn't leave things set up anyway. If I do, the troops "mysteriously" move about in the middle of the night…
