If you found yourself looking forward to being placed in quarantine, which ruleset would you bring with you? Assuming that you would be playing solitaire, and that you would also have appropriate figures and terrain.

I did 4 days in an isolation ward a few years ago.

It was no fun but had a mobile phone and a kindle with me.

Not many visitors apart from immediate family and some staff who all wore gowns and masks.

Rudysnelson02 Mar 2020 2:15 p.m. PST

Quarantines will be the shelter in place type that is common for mass casualties events. Having worked in the EMA for years, we preached it decades ago while they were destroying chemical weapons near here.
No big deal. You do not have to chose a games. You will be stuck at home with all of them.
The main concern for me is if conventions have to be cancelled. Though they expect warm weather to stall the virus until next late Fall.

I might even get some painting done

I am looking forward to 2 weeks in isolation in late May. Been told I can only bring a book(I asked about miniatures to paint). Also not sure what kind of shape I will be in to do anything.

I had suspected mumps when I was at a boarding school when I was about 13. This arrived in the post when I was in quarantine.

Excellent

I didn't have mumps :)

I'd bring stuff to paint, and paints.

I would probably have my Wings of Glory WW1 planes…or X-Wing!

1) Space Hulk 4th Ed.
2) Hail Caesar
3) Kings of War 3rd Ed.

Thresher0102 Mar 2020 4:37 p.m. PST

Hmmmmm, not sure, but like the home quarantine idea. I have enough stuff to keep me busy for quite a while, reading, playing, painting, etc..

Space Marines!

Who makes that, and where can I get a copy?

Stryderg02 Mar 2020 4:44 p.m. PST

Any/all of my TwoHourWargames titles. Great for solo and story telling, even if I'm the only one who ever gets to hear the stories.

Korvessa02 Mar 2020 5:02 p.m. PST

I'm with Sabre6 & Timbo

Coyotepunc and Hatshepsuut02 Mar 2020 6:35 p.m. PST

Five Leagues From The Borderlands, with my Glorantha mods for it as well. I love that game.

If I'm in Quarantine at home, I've got everything I'll ever need. If I'm in quarantine anywhere else, that's laptop time and pile on Civ 6.

Zephyr102 Mar 2020 10:19 p.m. PST

A laptop. I'll write my own games… ;-)

Dynaman878903 Mar 2020 4:47 a.m. PST

I'd bring my PC or kindle and have all my rules with me. With the PC I could continue to play online too.

Kropotkin30303 Mar 2020 2:15 p.m. PST

Hi Thresher01,

Space Marines rules were originally by FanTac Games, but later Fantasy Games Unlimited, moving from D20 to D100.

Very out of print.

I remember but never played those 80s Space Marine rules. I guess I'll have to check them out!

Rules? We don't need no stink'n rules !!!

YogiBearMinis07 Mar 2020 12:50 p.m. PST

I was thinking positively about the idea of home quarantine, and then I remembered that my work would expect me to log in remotely and do what I can from home. While I would enjoy not going in to the office, I don't think I would get the free time I would hope for.

The Last Conformist18 Mar 2020 8:04 a.m. PST

I'm not really into the whole solitaire thing, so I'd aim at making a dent in the lead mountain.

Oberlindes Sol LIC Supporting Member of TMP21 Aug 2021 10:48 a.m. PST

I missed this discussion, but that was a pretty turbulent time. I didn't do any solo gaming, but I did make a little dent in the lead mountain.

In answer to the poll, I would want Traveller, including its game Striker.

A Swiftly Falling Empire.

A grand campaign system for Swordsmen Skeletons (OSR clone). Can be played completely orcwith a group, and with or without a GM.

Your character has to gain gold from dungeoneering to build armies to keep the Empire from falling to the six fortresses of nifleheim. Great fun.
