"In the first two weeks of 2020, the Somali armed group al-Shabab carried out five attacks in Kenya, killing more than a dozen people. On January 2, the group attacked a bus in Lamu county near the Somali border, killing three people. Three days later, again in Lamu county, an al-Shabab attack on a military base killed three Americans. On January 7, the group attacked a primary school in Garissa county near the Somali border, killing four students and a teacher. Three days later, it raided a police station in Olla area, Mandera county…"

Clausewitz says war is an extension of politics by other means. Just about everything is negotiable. You just need to negotiate with a big stick sometimes, but you should never limit your options by emphatically saying "never" to negotiations. |
