My tome for the week. This game is really a set of miniature rules for hex and counter. Seriously, I think you could use the game for mini rules with very little modification. Plus it has 16 ready scenarios, a point system, and to top it off, the Spanish Civil War was one of the two wargame era the late Pat Condray adored. Brings back memories.

Nice looking game. It reminds me of "Squad Leader."

Yes, I noticed that as well.

Thanks for the link which sparked a renewed interest and discussion with friends about this game system – I down-loaded the free demo sample scenario the producers released for the 1st Edition a while back.

I'm not a fan of "hex and counters" board-games but love the research that goes into some of the best that can be translated into not only miniature games but also real-time PC computer game mods.

Here's some useful stuff from the "Board-Game-Geek" site that adds a whole new 3rd party expansion and knowledge including 27 new scenarios:

The War Storm series is cracking. I really enjoyed the 1940 and Barbarossa versions.

Although many gamers come up with their own solo-gaming systems, the creators have recently released their own solo-gaming expansion for all their War Storm series including A Las Barricadas. Highly adaptable to all miniature games too.
