It's amazing that these have survived, considering that noone realised their significance.

The original aircraft was flown by his grandfather Francis and David spent years recreating it in a project which incorporated several of the original parts.

Francis learned to fly at RNAS Chingford, just down the road from the Aifield I worked at – North Weald. He went on to fight in the Mediterranean, flying the Scout.

An incredible trove, (doesn't seem to be worth much dollar wise though?) but sad in a way that it seems no-one had worried much about such a family heirloom.

I remember watching planes flying from there, unfortunately not the Black Arrows…
