I'm working on magnetic storage for my Battletech stuff. I've acquired all the parts needed, but I have no idea what I should use to attach the sheet metal to the inside of the box. What adhesive would you reccomend to bond a galvanized steel sheet to the inside of a Really Useful Box (Polypropylene)? |

I actually use rubber cement. Plastic Boxes low porosity makes most glues ineffective and superglue makes for a brittle bond that doesn't transport well. |

I am with Extra Crispy on this. Plastic boxes flex too much for most glues. A rubber cement, or contact cement would work, but can get messy. Look for Carpet type Double-Sided tape: Like this one: link |

I agree with the double-sided tape, but if you insist on glue, use wallpaper border paste. It's like white glue on steroids, and since one of its intended uses is holding vinyl border to vinyl wallpaper it works well on non-porous plastic. |

Back in the 70s I stuck galvanized sheet steel into the bottom of a hard plastic tackle box for magnetized transport. I used a double sided rubber tape from my dad's garage. No idea of a modern day equivalent, but it worked great. |

I've tried many types of adhesive on polypropylene and some work for a while an then fail when the surface flexes. Some contact adhesives work for longer but usually peel off eventually. So far the only solution that works is to use 2 sided tape (heavy duty stuff) or foam pads with self-adhesive on both sides supporting a card or MDF liner that has the metal sheet on it. The self-adhesive Ferrosheet that I sell will adhere to polypropylene for some time but needs to be pressed back into place every now and then. It will successfully hold figures safely even when that happens, just looks as if it isn't working. Beware some of the specialist adhesives, they don't all work as well as they claim to. Industrial versions are expensive and not always safe for home use. |

I use E6000. It is a rubberized glue that comes in a tube. I have been holding magnetic sheeting to the bottoms of my really useful boxes for years. |

I use the teacher's secret weapon: blue tack putty. It goes by different trade names. It holds forever, can be removed without problems or stains. I use it on plastic containers all the time with no problems. A little goes a long way. I have sheets tacked to containers for 10 plus years. My favorite brand: link |

Buck, crap gonna smell horrible your a long time. Tibbles, you think blue tack will hold a metal sheet to plastic while holding the weight of Battletech mechs? Grimm |
