I'm thinking of investing in a 3D Printer, but which one… Ok I've watched all videos I can find, read Reddit to death and bothered all the 3D printer people I know, still can't decide between the two. Any thoughts from other members here which way to go? The things I plan on printing are nothing specific; Naval from 1/300 to 1/2400, random 25/28mm Fantasy figures, micro scale 2/6mm for basic fun "beer and pretzel" games… and 15/18mm, both vehicles for Team Yankee and 15/18mm figures for those weird armies I keep dreaming up (Napoleonic Chinese anyone?) that don't have much in the way of figure options/support from the traditional figure makers. I'm already aware that a 3D Resin printed figure does not have same detail as traditionally cast pewter figure, but the samples I have seen I'm more than happy with. Many thanks, Stu |

I think either is a good choice. I went with the Mars just on price and have had no issues that were not user caused. I've printed a lot of 1/300 for Cruel Seas, weapons and such for Gaslands and a few figures for Star Wars Legion. On a tabletop, its hard to tell the difference from traditional resin/plastic/metal. The only real difference I've encountered between my Mars and a friends Anycubic is the resin itself. The Elegoo resin I've used (gray) seems to have no real problematic smell whereas apparently some other brands can be quite smelly. |

I have a Mars and use Anycubic resin. Low smell resin Imo. Love the Mars. Printed up some Mandolorians to scale with my Wotc figs. |

Either is fine, but the Elegoo Mars has a higher wattage UV light source, and thus is a little faster per layer. I have an AnyCubic Photon, but if I were to do it again, I think I'd go with the Elegoo Mars. I like the fully removable lid, too, so I could get at the mechanism if I needed to. The hatch opening for the AnyCubic Photon is sturdy, but I can see issues in the future when I need to switch out the screen. Here's my recommended gear page on my site for 3d printers. It may help with all the other bits and bobs you may need. link |
