I've filed a PayPal case against Figone.fr, a site that I found when they were advertising on this forum. I ordered 3 miniatures from them on 09/22/2019. After ordering, I received an e-mail stating that Jeremie Bonamont Teboul, the site owner, would be out of the country until November 2019. Unfortunately, this information was not presented until after the order took place. It was not on the merchant side of the site and you would have to look at his personal blog to be notified of this prior to any orders.

I waited until 12/26/2019 before making any inquiry about why I had not received my order. I reasoned that if he was gone until November, it would have arrived before Christmas. This was not the case.

On 01/06/2020, Marc, with the company responded to me stating that there was a computer error when placed my order, that one of the figures was out of stock, and would I please choose another. I responded on that date with an alternate choice and have never received any further communication or any product whatsoever.

I sent them another e-mail today. I also have filed a PayPal case. I don't recommend this company to anyone for purchases.

Cory that is bad news. I think pay Pal will get your money back , they are pretty good at that.

Can I append this message with my usual warning DO NOT DEAL WITH ANY COMPANY THAT BREAKS THE LAW BY NOT GIVING A FULL GEOGRAPHICAL ADDRESS

30% of TMP advertisers do not follow this law. That is because they wish to hide from annoyed customers. Of course, they might hide their address because they think that is what customers want?

Most gamers say "I don't care so long as I get my stuff" , well that works just fine for these sort of traders.

I agree with Martin. I would never order from a website unless they show a full address. In some cases I will even check it out on Google maps.

I hope PayPal get your money back.

I don't believe they've advertised here, unless they have some other name…

If I'm wrong on that front, please allow me to apologize. Rethinking this, it's possible that I'm wrong.

The reason so many companies don't give a physical address is that they are on-line businesses only and have no facilities for customers turning up in person.

To suggest that 30% of TMP advertisers wish to hide from annoyed customers is an absurd slander. Mr Goddard should think hard before making such widespread casual accusations.

In the EU that is the law. In the UK that is the law. It is not a choice, but law. It is the law rather than the inconvenience of someone turning up.
If I write an untruth it is libel rather than slander.
To suggest that manufacturers should obey the law is in itself absurd; no?

To quote one manufacturer who is often on this TMP forum

"If the value of the goods exceeds the compensation available on your method of posting then you will need to choose which products are to be re-sent"

If I am wrong, then accept my apologies as I doff my cap to your superior knowledge of online selling whoever you are dear anonymous poster.

So the statement by one trader is evidence that the 30% are intent on somehow defrauding their customers?

To suggest that manufacturers should obey the law is perfectly sensible and legitimate. However, there is no escaping the fact that this rule could be seen be as petty bureaucracy and is not even enforced by the powers that made the law. In such circumstances suggesting that those who ignore it have ulterior motives and are providing poor customer service is at best speculation, at worst downright crazy and insulting to those businesses. That was my original point and remains the case.

I don't think it's the law in the US

Hi Martin. That is something interesting I never knew. Do you know which law it is – I would be interested to read up on it. Thanks

From the YouGov site on distance selling and online selling includes this statement

"your business name, contact details and address"

I'd say it was slightly muddied by this statement though

"These rules don't apply to:

goods and services worth £42.00 GBP or less"

Just realised I bought a book from them – Figopedia – which is excellent

No issues with the service
