"After the defeat of the caravan at the fortress of Ajir, Yusuf al-Din and Ali Al-Halol with the rest of the detachment retreated to the fortress of Kaltanisset. From here, Yusuf ad-Din arrived in Palermo. After a short rest, Yusuf ad-Din sent a report on his actions to Cordoba and held a short meeting with the emir of Palermo. He was in no hurry to allocate personal troops, which aroused bewilderment of the Cordobian general – the independent emir himself asked for help from the mighty caliph, and now refused to help with the troops. After a lengthy meeting, the emir promised to allocate a certain amount of money for hiring soldiers, but he could not help with a large one, he said…."
