Hi all,

I know that in March 1935 Hitler announced that he was reintroducing conscription to Germany, but:

1) Exactly *when* did the first cohort of newly conscripted German youths actually *begin* their military service? Was it latr in 1935, or in 1936?

2) When he made his announcement in March 1935, did he announce a *target* figure for the expanded German Army?

Thanks in advance, folks, for any tips.

The UPI archives have a summary of his declaration

He just declared an expansion of the Army to 36 divisions (480,000 men).

Bear in mind that there was a large pool of reservists who could be recalled immediately.

No idea when any new conscripts would have been called up.
