Yes, many [good] militaries have OPLANs for almost every contingency. Even if there is little to no chance of those events occurring. E.g. I don't know this for sure of course. But it would not surprise me if there are some highly classified US OPLANs for events like Alien invasion or landing on the WH land, etc.  |

I remember hearing a Soviet ex-pat, maybe Smirnov, say that there was a gallows joke in the USSR about nuclear attack. In the event of a nuclear attack, put a clean white sheet over your head and walk slowly and calmly to the graveyard. Why walk slowly? You wouldn't want to cause a panic, would you? |

That generally sounds like business as usual in the USSR, now Russia 2.0. Wouldn't expect anything less from a former KGB officer in charge …  Hopefully they won't do like the PRC and make him or anyone President For Life. What could possibly go wrong ?!? As I heard at a round table discussion I was invited to. All there were Vets. The one Ret. USMC LTC said. "Russia wants to destroy us. China wants to own us". I think that is basically a good assessment. I may have to get some t-shirts made with that on it … All that being said, being a former Cold War Warrior, '79-'90. I have great respect for the Russian military in both WWII and the Cold War. You'd be a fool not to. Glad we never had to square off going toe-to-toe. And as I have said before. We supported the wrong side when the USSR occupied A'stan. The CIA's original plan was just to let the USSR and Muj bleed themselves out. That was the right idea. We didn't and we see what happened. And is still going on 20 years later. With no end insight. Along with million of $$$$ wasted and a couple 1000 dead and many more than that WIA. You can't free a fish from water … |
