I love the helmet and have been considering adding some 28mm East German figures to my collection. I'm just not sure how to paint the East German Strichtarn pattern camouflaged uniforms. Has anyone here solved that problem? |

From a distance they just look like a greyish khaki, the raindrop pattern is very small. I've got an NVA uniform. |

That's what I thought, produce the shade and not the detail. Kinda like using duck egg blue for the white with blue pinstripes on 1898 Spanish. |

I don't think I even own any NVA troops, although I suppose of my old Airfix Warsaw Pact troops include some. I do have a NVA baseball cap (they wouldn't call it that, of course; it must be a Feldmutze or something) in the classic rain pattern with a tiny red and yellow hammer, compass, and rye insiginia. It's a great little cap, actually, comfortable and durable. |
