I highly recommend the book Mayflower. It begins with the Pilgrims but ends with King Philip's war. The causes are complex, but I argue that this war sets the tone an pattern for all the Indian wars to come. The author debunks many myths, like the one about the Native Americans communing peacefully with nature unite the Europeans arrived. In fact they were engaged in wars of annihilation, sieges, alliances, and military campaigns for hundreds of years before the first European arrived. |

The Mayflower book is what inspired me to do my KPW miniatures range. The book is in 3 parts – why they left Europe, arrival an coexistence with the Native Americans, the path to war and KPW. |
