I have lately been tinkering with painting some Firelock Blood and Plunder Native American Canoa. I have 5 mildly different outcomes, the result of 1 accident and another experiment. I was hoping our assembled masses would opine which they liked best. Credit where credit is due, my start point was Jacob Stauttener's article in Must Contain Minis. The bottom result was as close I got to Stauttener. 2 others used different base coats. 2 more had materials fails as ths shadecoat did not dry matte. My bad. I thought the shadecoat was ink and didnt bother to shake it. In truth I really like the gloss effect. Please opine away.
Tks. |

I prefer the top three. Actually though, if not freshly cut and made, I suspect all of the wooden boats would quickly turn gray due to the effects of saltwater and sun on them. So, a multi-tonal gray, or gray/brown vessel might be more appropriate, if more than a few weeks old. |

I like the 3rd &4th to be honest. The bottom one looks least appealing to my eye, but any and all are darned fine😁 |

Kudos to Stauttener. It all flowed from his insight. |
