……static grass - Wanted to show you my latest custom Battle Cry board game mat here, made on a Killing Fields static grass mat -
The 4 inch grid was applied with an ink marker, and the hills cut out of the mat material. Since the grass top is bonded to a 3/4 inch pile backing, the cut out hills can be laid onto the board and will show some elevation effect (I tested the hills and they'll support the weight of 10-15mm miniatures – these with our typical multiple-figures mounted on each stand). Closeup -
I've made a few BC mats over the last 10 years, and this latest version looks good while it took a lot less work to bring off. My former 3D boards, the 1st here on a hobby "Railroad Grass" mat -
A couple buds playing Battle Cry on the teddy bear fur mats, here in St. Louis at one of our monthly game days -
I can't wait to give this new static mat a try at our next game day coming up (making two of them for that). |

Thanks 79thPA! I had some Battle Cry fans express interest over on Board Game Geek – hey who knows, maybe I'll get a little bird doggin' from Killing Fields in the mail. |

Guys, We got the new mat deployed for the Old Guard to have some fun on it today. The first scenario here, was Little Sugar Creek (the 2nd game they played Oak Grove) -
At the same time our buddy Pat L. was running Napoleonics with his 3D conversion on another table (so a very enjoyable afternoon on this cold day in February here, but back home before the traffic even got bad) -
