Anyone got any info on flags for French ordonnance cavalry for the 1450-1500 period?
There are some very nice ones from Pete's Flags for the early 1500s, but I'm looking for a slightly earlier period.
As I understand it there just isn't as much information on what flags they'd use compared to say the Burgundians of Charles the Bold.
Now there are a few in the booklets that come with the Perry plastic boxes. There is a very nice one of an angel (St Michael?) slaying a dragon, surrounded by sunbursts – this one actually appears three times across the Perry sets in white, red and black.
And standards with white crosses I know are fair game.
But what else? Any ideas?
Confusingly, one of the Perry boxes has a flag that looks identical to the 'oriflamme', with the caption 'typical standard seen in most French armies of the period.' I have looked into it and found references to the last time the oriflamme was flown either being at Agincourt (1415) or by Louis XI in the 1460s….. Is there any evidence of multiple flags using the same design being used in the later 15th century?

The now defunct Danish wargame site "krigsspil" has some reference materials that may help you. Here's a link the the internet archive of that site:

On the left hand side click on Download--when new page opens, click on Medieval & Renaissance at the top. Then scroll down to "Burgundian and French flags, ca. 1445-1500". There you will find a list of flags. Click on the links and the various flags should pop up.

The number of French flags/banners is limited, but may be of some use.
