Web shop temporary closing
Just wanted to let everyone know we will be closing the shop for new orders on February 23rd we then aim to reopen the shop hopefully with a new web site on March 23rd. This gives you all a month to get any must have orders in before we close, we will then make sure all orders are completed before I am off to sort out some family matters. I have looked at getting some temporary help but unfortunately this is not possible. I have come to the conclusion it's a better solution to close completely attend to the things I need to do and then reopen.

It's a small business. You have to expect this sort of thing sometimes. Pity the Napoleonics still seem to be on the previous shutdown, though. Well, maybe in March, and it's not as though I've run out of things to paint.

While I´m sorry for his difficulties, I have to say kudos to Andy for doing the right thing. The Consumer board is full of complaints about non-communication and owners missing in action, while here is a perfect example of acknowledging you won´t be able to get orders out on time and taking action to avoid pissing off your customers.

Kudos to Andy for the great work he has done since taking over the H&R line. And best wishes that he can "sort out" whatever the family matters are.

I really should get an order in before he goes dark.

Just yesterday I received the order I placed with H&R. Haven't yet had time to do much more than open up and inventory what I got in the shipment. I will try to get some pics up shortly.

I am rather impressed by the newer H&R castings. This was my first purchase of newer H&R infantry and vehicles. The quality, in terms of the detailing and the casting crispness, are all pretty much first rate.

And as with the older H&R infantry I am quite pleased by the variety of kit and poses. I bought some Italian infantry equipment I could not find elsewhere -- engineering kit including flame-throwers, mine-detectors, engineers with satchel / demo charges … they are all very good looking and welcome additions. I also bought some support weapons -- I needed more LMGs and also got 3 AT rifle teams. The first point to make is that I can visually distinguish between the two, which is nice. And I can tell that the ATR is a Maroszek, not a Solothurn, which indicates the improved detailing of the modelling. (For my purposes I much prefer the Maroszek, so am pleased with what I've received. For those who are focused on the Western Desert campaign, you might well have preferred the Solothurn. Oh well.) And best of all -- the Italian command strips come with radio operators with the rather unique Italian hoop-antenna'd radio!

I also bought some of the newer H&R vehicles, including the Viberti Radio truck and some Cierano medium trucks. These look very nice, and are substantially more detailed than (the large variety of) older H&R trucks I have purchased

All of this will be a welcome addition to my GHQ-based Italian infantry force.

This is the latest update from Andy at Heroics & Ros.

Web shop temporary closing update
Firstly, I hope you and your families are well, please stay safe in
these difficult times and thank you all for your patience and
understanding while we have been closed.
When we closed in February it was with the intention of sorting out some
family matters which just couldn't be done while still running Heroics &
Ros and then reopening with a shiny new Web site on the 23rd of March.

Well, things haven't exactly gone to plan and like all other business in
the UK the corona virus is going to have an impact on how we work and
our personal lives. The closure of all UK schools means I need put in
place child care arrangements to allow me to work and we all need to
make sure we can work in a safe manner so I have decided to DELAY the
reopening until 30th March.
The situation is changing fast and we can't predict what will happen but
I want to be as certain as we can be that when taking orders that we will
complete them in a timely manner and ship them out.
I know some of you have been waiting to place that order and I'm sorry
to keep you waiting that bit longer but I am feel spending the week
sorting things out so we can be as prepared possible to make and ship
product in this new "normal" situation is the sensible thing to do.

Thanks again for all the support, it is much appreciated

All the best from the Heroics & Ros team.

Web shop UPDATE Covid-19

I hope you and your families are well, please stay safe in these difficult times and thank you all for your patience and understanding while we have been closed. We have spent the last weeks looking at how we can still operate, keep safe and help look after my young family at home. Covid-19 is impacting everyone and seems unlikely to disappear in the next few weeks so we have totally changed how we will be working with only one person in at a time, we will therefore be reducing the product ranges which will be available at any one time. The ranges being offered over the coming weeks will change so everyone will get a chance to purchase "their period".

Currently you should find all the modern ranges available, WW2 figures both old and new style and our Dark age range available in the shop. In addition, our 1/600th Coast force range is there too, that's nearly 1500 items to choose from, but if these are not for you, we will be swapping the available ranges on sale so keep checking back. I will post in the new section so it's easy to find

We have approximately 30% casting capacity so orders will take time to process but we are hoping that concentrating our casting into smaller ranges will help with this. Posting in UK seem fine if understandably a little slow at times, same for most of European and US but there is currently a hold on mail to New Zealand due to lack of planes. If you want to know about your particular country this site is very useful.

Continuing to do business will of course depend on many things, government advice which currently is "if safe and work which can't be done home is to OK", continued metal supply, continued access to the postal service, childcare availability and most importantly nobody getting ill.

I just want to add a big THANK YOU all those working in the NHS and others who are still working in these difficult times and keeping us going. There are worse things to be asked to do than stay inside even if it's with the wife and two young children 😊

Good News, I was getting worried.

NotNelson22 May 2020 8:18 a.m. PST

Is there any more news – the webshop is still closed and no update for nearly a couple of months. Hope everything's ok!

ScoutJock23 Jun 2020 7:06 a.m. PST

Any update available? The webstore doesn't have anything in stock.

NotNelson24 Jun 2020 5:33 a.m. PST

He said he was closing for a couple of days 2 months ago and hasn't been heard of since. The business was only sporadically open for months before that due to personal issues so I fear the worst.

Greg G125 Jun 2020 9:32 a.m. PST

I had a e-mail from Andy on the 19th on a query I had, so he was still healthy and active last week.

NotNelson27 Jun 2020 3:25 a.m. PST

Well, I hope all's well.

Even without COVID it's been frustrating since he took over. I've collected the Napoleonics for over 35 years and there's not been a single new release in that range (and I think anything before 1914) during his tenure and it's now been over 6 months since many of the ranges were available. They're not really compatible with other manufacturers' 'bobblehead' designs, except strangely the naval figures from Langton Miniatures!

I appreciate he took over all the ranges as a package and that his interest really lies with WW2 & Modern – he's done really good work there on both the range and quality. I'm sure that's where the money is too so I can't blame him for that.

As his circumstances don't allow other choices, I think he had the right idea of trying to keep the WW2 and Modern stuff going and open the others in sequence for a period to allow everyone a bite of the cherry. Hopefully, this will resume soon or maybe he could do a deal with someone like Magister Militum to do casting and order processing while he focusses on design. They're not far away geographically either…

Anyway, patience is a virtue and maybe one day we might even get a nice pack of Napoleonic Spanish Guerillas!

From Heroics & Ros dated 6/7/20

The currently plan is to reopen either Monday 13th July or Monday 20th July depending on how things work out. There will be a formal announcement in a few day on the web site with a confirmed date. Thanks for all the patience and understand in the difficult times.

Web shop UPDATE- 3 Covid-19 -20th July 2020

Firstly, I hope you and your families are all well and I would like to say a big thank you to all those who have worked through this period to help the sick and keep the country running.

It's has been a while since our last update and now we are hopefully seeing a slow return to "normal" life though my feeling's are that it will be different than before for many of us. What the future holds I am not sure but we have been thinking about how best to move Heroics & Ros forward. With the uncertainty around how long restrictions of some kind will last and the possibility of a second wave we have decide to reorganise our factory. This should allow us to use more of the equipment while still creating a safe working environment. It might not be 100% efficient but without a guaranteed end date to restrictions and a vaccine it seems sensible to find a way to increase casting capacity closer to normal rather than to keep opening and closing the shop or selling a restricted range of products.

We are reopening the shop on Monday 20th July. Ranges will be put back into stock gradually but unlike before once they are up, they will stay available. We will start with some of the smaller ranges to gradually build up rather than being overwhelmed on the first day.

I am sorry we have not been able to offer a full range of products over this period, with 2 young children to help look after and staff safety to consider I felt there was not really an alternative option. I really appreciate the nice emails, support and understanding shown to us by our customers.

The first range to be available is the 1/600th Coastal Forces

All the Best
Andy

ScoutJock30 Jul 2020 8:10 p.m. PST

I'm glad to see he is coming back to life, albeit slowly, but I get it, priorities and all.

I'm hoping he turns on modern figures and aircraft soon. I have needs!

ScoutJock02 Dec 2020 3:21 p.m. PST

It looks like H&R has their complete WWII and Modern lines in stock. I placed a pretty good sized order yesterday but it costs a fortune to ship across the pond. Does anybody stock H&R in the US? I used to buy it at the Last Square in Wisconsin but they stopped carrying it years ago.

John Leahy Sponsoring Member of TMP11 Dec 2020 9:34 a.m. PST

Yeah, that's why I picked up a load of GHQ infantry on sale at various places. Shipping can be a killer to the US. I printed off 150+ vehicles which are as nice as most micro armor. Cost per 20-25 is less than a buck.

Thanks.

John

NotNelson16 Feb 2021 6:35 a.m. PST

Been 6 months since we heard from H&R – an update would be good business practice.

ScoutJock16 Feb 2021 3:11 p.m. PST

He seems to be up and running. My order was filled in a couple days and was received in about three weeks which is not unreasonable given international shipping in Covid times.
