Never found proper 15mm Sappers or pioneers so for nearly 40 years just used artillery men. But had a idea and this is the result. Its also my first non Empire old school stand.I made it as small as I could still using the idea and assume a company working of fortifications or pontoon bridge would be spread out working not in a formation.
I dosay not impressed with my Samsung galaxy camera but its only thing I have so its this or nothing. The shovels are low guy a piece of plumbing solder glued on his pole, the high guy is a plastic shovel cut down and filed. A pick was another idea if the figure presented that |

Back in October, I was about to put on a game with Russians and needed a sapper. The scenario's OOB included one and I felt ignoring it would not be fair since the opposing side also had one. Unable to find a figure and uniform description, I created my own with some artistic license. Simple yet effective, which can be seen here: thepeninsularwar.blogspot.com I like what you did with adding a shovel. I wonder if Russian sapper had aprons like everyone else? Mine does. I presume they would have and at least it sort of identifies the figure. |

I used quick set spackle for the dirt pile, the stand is the 2nd attempt as the first try though painted warped from the spackle. The second attempt used a old stand that was at least clear coated and that was enough to take a hour until it was dry. Thinking a pontoon company will be next, though a pontoon bridge very well might need road clearing and landing area. I have on other figures used pre mixed spackle so maybe aprons might show up |
