There's been some chatter that some people aren't interested in the rules because they use a square grid. As one of the reviewers has mentioned the rules have a chapter that explains how to use them without a grid and with a tape measure instead. There's more detail on how this works here: link

Never seen grids as an issue, plenty of rule sets use grids/hexes. I have never had an issue with them; don't wargamers buy a set of rules then often bastardise them to their own needs (aka 'house rules')?

Cheers

@korsun0 I don't understand the problem either. I've converted rules both ways, adding and subtracting squares to suit. I've converted SPI games to figure games too.

And I usually chop rule sets about anyway.

These are good rules, mainly because they introduce a period and continent not much played. Grid squares work well in other games so these rules should be supported.

@Royal Marine: Thanks for your support. Hope you enjoy your games with them. If you can find the time stick a review on Amazon.

I think some high quality photos of a game with some good painted miniatures and an article written for one of the magazine's would see interest increase

@Durando: That's a good point. Alas I have what I have, – 15mm miniatures painted with a big brush and covered with tinted varnish. I think the glossy mags want 28mm painted in the fashionable GW style. I have pondered on writing an article, but there's so much on the go at the moment that it hasn't reached the top of the pile yet.

@Trebian we haven't played the rules yet as we've been up and down the Shenandoah Valley since January in some sort of Civil War. Hope to give them a run out sometime soon though.

@Royal Marine: You cannot know how both excited and slightly worried I am ahead of the first battle report for either of my rule sets.
