With a lull in the wargaming action and convention attending with the possible exception of Williamsburg, it is time now to start everyone's favorite topic MY COMPLAINT. Go ahead, use all the space you need. After all, it's a new year. While the snow falls and you are home telecommuting, just pop off a list of complaints for all of us to enjoy. My greatest complaint is lack of rooms for all who want to stay onsite at the convention hotel. That's as horrible as it gets for me right now. So I'll sign off and let's get this party started. Hope to see you all at Cold Wars where we can get a whole new set of complaints together and share here. Happy travels.(Mature responders only. My complaint for Cold Wars is invalid, because, well, I'm onsite.) |

I think GAMA cocked up the Room Reservation system for ORIGINS. They went with an outside company for the process. Was supposed to start at 10am. People were allowed to register at 9:45. My friend tried to get a room, had it 'reserved' and after typing in his CC information was told the room was no longer available. The ENTIRE site was sold out by 10:30. They then added more rooms at more locations at HIGHER prices. As people drop out of the sold out hotels those rooms are becoming available again, at prices you can get from Expedia.com. First time ever we have not been able to stay connected to the Convention Center. Not sure why GAMA decided to do what they did, but I don't think it's a change for the good…. |

Can't we just use last year's complaints? OK, OK. I'll go with my usual--timing of flea markets in HMGS-East conventions, and diminishing supply of quick simple historical games--especially in the horse and musket period. For my third slot, I'll go with lack of new and exciting stuff in the dealers hall. When you stick with the classics, you never go out of style. Double G, over to you. |

My only issue is the last two conventions I attended in 2019, Fall-In & Historicon, I took an extra day off from work to attend a hobby university class that ended up being cancelled that day. Still had a great time at both but that was a little frustrating. |

My feet hurt. Work takes up too much time that should be for gaming. No major wargaming conventions are within walking distance from my house. Figures cost money. DId I miss any major ones? |

I have way too many figures in way too many periods that I will probably never get to, and if I do, I'll have to learn new rules systems in order to put on games with them. It's a lose-lose situation no matter how I look at it. |

My complaint is that you didn't mention Scrum Con 2020 in Silver Spring, Maryland on Feb. 29, snubbing us as part of some so-called "lull." You can remediate yourself by checking out our website and perusing the fine games we have on offer! Thanks! Scrum Con 2020: link

In my day…
- Rules were realistic, none of this fast-play Yahtzee with soldiers naff
- Scales were consistent. 15mm meant 15mm.
- Prices were reasonable
- We bought bumpy lumps of lead sight unseen from crappy ads in magazines, delivery took months, AND WE LIKED IT
- Everyone I gamed with was 20, thin, handsome, and sociable, not like today's cranky, creaky old man demographic
I think that covers it. |

I went to SpartaCon last weekend and had no complaints. It was a great con. Looking forward to next year already. Really nice new venue. |

My only complaint is needing to go through Philly to get to any of them. That is a major pain. |

But surely I-76 is not as bad as I-95? |

Bowman, 96 is a dream compared to 76 down here. |
